There are a lot of new ideas being discussed about fun, important and rewarding events for our association!
Board Members meet only three or four times a year and the committees meet as needed to plan the various community events and fund raising activities. Please consider joining us on the Board or on a Committee. There is so much to do and we always need fresh ideas and new approaches !
Once again, the Ocean city Gardens Civic Association is sponsoring scholarships for 2018 high school graduates. In order to qualify for these awards, students must graduate from OCHS or other area high schools and reside in the Gardens year round. Applicants’ families must be members of OCGCA, and seniors must have been accepted to a certified two- or four-year college, technical school, or certification program. The criteria the Committee uses are based on the merits of grade point average and overall contributions to the school and community. Active participation in OCGCA events is strongly considered; thus, it is recommended that underclassmen involve themselves with the Association well before graduation.
Scholarship is a major aspect of the Association’s fund raising efforts, and OCGCA prides itself with this worthy endeavor to recognize and reward local outstanding high school seniors. If interested in learning more about this program, contact Rich Bennett, at 609-287-8125, or email at RDBOCNJ@aol.com. This year’s deadline for submitting applications was May 1st, and winners will be introduced at the Ocean City High School June awards presentation.

ANNUAL THEATER TRIP
As you know, we were unable to conduct a theater trip to New York last October.
The trip was a sell out, but an unfortunate glitch precluded us from attending the Broadway musical, “An American In Paris.” It is hoped that we will conduct the trip this year- possibly to Philadelphia or New York. It looks very promising, so keep looking for an announcement regarding this highly popular annual event.
