In addition to our scholarships awarded last year -totaling $4500 to nine outstanding Ocean City High School students- during the 2016 Christmas season, OCGCA donated $2000 to four worthy local charities. Divided evenly, the charities included Hope Pregnancy, the Ocean City Food Cupboard, the Ocean City Clothes Closet, and the Atlantic City Chapter of Covenant House.Yearly dues and various fund raising events enabled the Association to make these annual donations possible. Many thanks to all participants!

I’d like to mention a worthy program that has been sponsored for several years by the Ocean City Lions Club. They have set up eye glass collection boxes at three locations: the Ocean City Home Bank, at toth and Asbury Avenue; the Senior Center in the Community Center, at 18th and Simpson Avenue; and on the side of CVS at 34th Street.
These glasses are sent by Lions International to third world countries as they are not allowed, by the FDA, to be used in the United States. These countries are excited to get the glasses to help individuals see clearly- often for the first time.
Your support would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 609-602-8482.

At the 9th Annual Easter Egg Hunt held at the North Street Park, the OCGCA hosted over 200 children plus parents and grandparents for this community family event. Divided by age groups and led by the Easter Bunny, children collected over 2400 eggs filled with candy. The Easter Bunny posed for family photos, gave out lots of hugs and brought smiles to the faces of the egg hunters.
New to the event this year and as a reflection of the OCGCA’s commitment to instilling a sense of community and volunteerism in our youth, ten Ocean City student volunteers donated their time and energy to decorate the park and assist in running the event including performing as the Easter Bunny. The Association plans to continue working with local students to provide volunteer opportunities at future events.
We plan to continue hosting this well received community event next year on the Saturday before Easter and urge everyone to come out and enjoy the fun.
